Why Spring City?

In the mid 1880s, after a Civil War veteran suffering from diabetes drank the pure spring water and experienced an immediate improvement in his symptoms, Waukesha, Wisconsin became a mecca for people suffering a variety of ailments. In fact, the area became known as Spring City and the "Saratoga of the West" and healing resorts and hotels opened up to accommodate the many visitors, many of whom were the very wealthy and elite.

Just as the waters were believed to have healing properties, we believe that art can soothe and heal many troubles. The person suffering from stress may experience a respite and find peace while immersed in one of Beth Rodgers' stunning landscapes. Those suffering wanderlust can be transported to the snowy tundras through Geri Leahn's astonishing polar bear collection. Weary of a Wisconsin winter, a sun-starved person might bask in the brilliant sun and vivid rainforest atmosphere of Jill Newton Moore's Costa Rica images. Roy Schmidt's detailed milkweed shots remind us that summer always does return and bring the warmth back to the ground. And Thom Moran, owner of Studio 7even 2wo 3hree and founder of Spring City Photographers, always invites the curious to look at things anew through his ever-inquisitive eye.

We hope you enjoy the quality and variety these six talented artists bring to Studio 723 and drink from the cool, clean springs of art here.
